Spanish Basic Level 1

Introduction to Spanish as a Second Language

This course in designed for adults who have little Spanish language skills. Students will be introduced to general Spanish vocabulary starting with words used in everyday life. students begin learning the language through reading, writing, and listening.

Real World Spanish: Spanish in Everyday Life

Students continue to build their vocabulary in this module by studying the use of Spanish in daily contexts. Throughout the course, students will become more immersed in the language by reading and listening to words and sentences and completing short written exercises relating to the following situations:


  • Filling Out Simple Forms
  • Around the Home
  • The Neighborhood Community
  • Food
  • Money
  • Shopping
  • Travel
  • Finding a Job
  • At Work


Spanish Level 2 & 3:  More Spanish in Everyday Life

This course is designed for students who are familiar with basic Spanish and can converse in simple sentences. The focus on this course to building vocabulary, reading skills, and listening skills in daily contexts, including:

  • Work and Occupations
  • Special Occasions
  • Talking about Food
  • Talking about Weather and Seasons
  • Interacting with Others
  • Sports and Games
  • Fun, Relaxation and Travel
  • Talking about Travel and Geography


At the completion of this course students will be able to speak Spanish with confidence. Level 3 is an advanced Spanish. Students will be able to survive in a Spanish community but stills needs to maintain practice and use of the language.
